Beacon Academy, the best Huntsman training academy in the Kingdom of Vale; and a few short weeks ago, you stepped off your airship from the island of Patch with your best friend Jaune Arc and became official students. You and Jaune made some new friends in the short amount of time you had been at Beacon, including a black-haired girl with a red cape named Ruby and her sister Yang; but some new acquaintances were not as friendly to you and Jaune at first, like Weiss Schnee. Despite all of this and being literally flung into an initiation the very next day, you and the other first-years were formed into teams of four each with their own team name and leader. Jaune was partnered up with a red-haired girl named Pyrrha and teamed up with the pairing of Nora Valkyrie and Lie Ren to form Team JNPR with Jaune as a leader. Ruby and Weiss, along with Yang and a black-haired girl named Blake became Team RWBY and Ruby was named leader despite having skipped two years of training at her previous academy. The night before the initiation you had met a fox Faunus named Carmen Rouge, and along with another boy named Nicholas Frost and a rabbit Faunus named Daisy Amarelo the four of you became Team (T/N) and you were named the leader of the team.

On this bright Saturday morning, you were at your usual weekend spot, the Beacon Academy training arena. Normally you go through your standard routine solo, but this time you ran into Jaune and his team and decided to join them in training. Over the past few weeks, you and Jaune’s teams had grown close as friends, along with Ruby’s team and could often be found together in some grouping. Even Weiss, who took a while to warm up to everyone particularly Carmen and Daisy, enjoyed the time spent with each other. Jaune was working on his sword skills with Pyrrha while you and Ren worked on hand-to-hand combat. The two of you agreed that you wouldn’t use your Dust Projection Gauntlets Tooth & Nail to keep things even. Ren’s movements were swift and fluid, a testament to his training but you had your own secret weapon. As you cleared out with a sweeping kick causing him to jump back your (h/c) hair started standing on end as your Semblance kicked in. Peaking in two places at the top of your head, your hair looked like a pair of Faunus ears and your normally (e/c) eyes turned bright yellow and your pupils changed into sharp vertical slits.

“Time to get serious.” You said as you seemed to disappear from view

Ren, always vigilant, did not let his guard down when you vanished. Constantly circling around so as not to let you get behind him, you suddenly appeared in front of Ren and tried to sweep his legs. Ren jumped to avoid you but halfway through the sweep you stopped and disappeared again, reappearing in mid-air right behind Ren.

“Gotcha.” You said as you pinned Ren’s arms behind his back and drove him back down to the earth

As the dust cleared from your impact, Pyrrha, Jaune, and Nora looked over to see Ren face-down and you in front of him in your battle pose.

“Looks like I win, Ren. Sorry about the piledriver.” You said offering a hand to Ren as he got up

“Actually, I might have to ask you to teach me that move.” He said as you helped him up, “Your combat skills are superb and your weapons definitely compliment your fighting style.”

“True,” Pyrrha said joining in, “and you both have places where you can improve.”

“How so?” You asked

“Your defense against aerial enemies, Ren, which is fairly understandable; and (y/n) you really don’t have much in the way of long-range combat.”

“What are you talking about Pyrrha?” Nora said, “(Y/N)’s Tooth & Nail are awesome, and you’ve seen what his Semblance can do. I’ve even heard other students start calling him ‘The Beast of Beacon’.”

“Well she does have a point Nora, Tooth & Nail do have a limit on their range and I usually use my Dust to amplify their melee power. But, now that you say that I think I’ve got an idea on how to fix that.” You said as you dusted yourself off and slid your aforementioned weapons over your hands, “I’ll see you guys later, yeah?”

Your friends nodded and waved goodbye as you left the training field.

Walking across the courtyard you felt a gentle breeze waft through your (h/c) hair as you headed out to get the second half of your training regimen underway.

“HEY (Y/N)!” Said a voice behind you

Turning around, you saw your good friend Yang Xiao Long running up to meet you. She was wearing her standard attire, brown sleeved vest and black shorts with a brown belt and orange scarf; you saw she also had her weapon Ember Celica with her as she finally made it up to you.

“Hey, Yang.” You answered back, “Nice day huh?”

“You know it! You just get done training?” She asked

“Not quite, getting ready for Part 2. So, what’ve you been doing?”

“Ugh, been studying with Weiss and the others all morning. I need to keep moving or my legs will fall asleep again.”

“Well then,” you said as an idea popped into your head, “how about coming with me? I promise you’ll get a good workout.”

“Sold! Let’s get going!” Yang said as she headed towards the training field

“Yang!” You called out causing the blonde to stop in her tracks and turn to you, “We’re going this way.”

“Oh…right.” She said sheepishly

Walking through the courtyard and towards the back areas of campus, you and Yang soon approached the same cliff overlooking the Emerald Forest where you underwent initiation with a small silver post in front of it and Professor Port was inside standing guard.

“Well if it isn’t Mr. (L/n) and Ms. Xiao Long! Here for a little hands-on training eh?”

“Yes, sir.” You responded

“Good show, good show! Now if you would present your scrolls please, standard protocol and whatnot.”

You and Yang passed your scrolls to Professor Port and he scanned them through his console.

“There we are,” he said handing your Scrolls back, “standard two-hour session. Happy hunting you two!”

Professor Port pressed a button on his console and a pair of launch pads rose from underground. You and Yang stepped onto the pads as you got a small countdown before being launched over the treetops once again.

Sailing over the treetops, you could hear Yang laughing as the two of you started to descend into the forest. You made it down to the ground first, and Yang came in soon after, but not before ricocheting off a few tree trunks and somersaulting to finish the landing.

“Nailed it.” She said with a chuckle

Chuckling along with her, the two of you starting running through the forest. Hearing the cries of Grimm all around you, the two of you ran headfirst into the fray. First, you encountered a small pack of Boarbatusk, then Yang led a young Death Stalker out of its cave before you ambushed it. After clearing out a Nevermore nest, a resounding howl rang through the forest.

“Beowolf pack.” You said, “Yang, get up in the trees.”

“Got it, getting the drop on them. Nice.”

You and Yang hid in the treetops and a few minutes later, a pack of a few dozen Beowolves came through the forest and into the clearing along with their Alpha.

“Yang…” you said softly, getting the blonde’s attention, “want to see who can pop more Beowolves?”

“Oh, a little contest huh?”

You nodded and the two of you leaped from the trees into the pack of Grimm.

After getting the drop on them, the two of you underwent your little competition. It was pretty clear to see who killed what: you were using Tooth & Nail’s blades cloaked with your fire Dust cutting through them like a hot knife through butter and Yang’s Ember Celica were crushing skulls left and right. When the dust cleared, you had taken down 13 Grimm to Yang’s 12.

“Looks like I win.” You said with a confident smile

Yang groaned in annoyance when suddenly a pair of Ursa came barreling through the trees heading straight for you. Jumping over the one in front, your blades met the sides of his head and in one fluid motion, you added an Ursa to your pile of fallen Grimm. Yang rolled out of the way of the Ursa’s attack but when she recovered, she saw a few strands of her blonde hair caught in the claws of the Grimm. Your jaw dropped when Yang’s hair glowed and her normally lilac eyes turned bright red as she rushed at the Grimm and practically punched her way through it. Taking a breather, she turned around and that goofy smile came back to her face as she met up with you.

“Wow…if we ever fight remind me to not touch the hair.” You said

“You got that right!” Yang said as your Scrolls started vibrating, “Wow, has it been two hours already? Man, time flies. Thanks for inviting me to come with you (y/n).”

“No problem, this kind of thing is always better with a friend.” You said as the two of you headed back up to campus

Once you and Yang got back to campus, she headed off to meet Ruby and the rest of her team and you headed back to your room to work on that long-range mode for Tooth & Nail. Training not only keeps your body in shape, it clears your mind and helps you to focus in on an objective; the day before a big test you could always be found in the Emerald Forest. Once you got back to your room, you sat down at your desk and got to work on drawing up plans to modify your weapon. A few short hours later, you had completed the plans and were about to head out to get the necessary materials when Carmen and Daisy came into the room.

“Hey (y/n)” Daisy said in her usual cheerful voice

“Hey girls,” You answered as your laptop finished shutting down

“Finishing up homework?” Carmen asked

“Not quite. Was training with Yang a while ago and had one of my ideas.”

“Oh, with Yang?” Carmen said, causing Daisy to quietly giggle

“Yeah, what about it?”

“Nothing, just that you two make a really cute couple.” She said, causing your cheeks to get warmer and earning more giggles from your Faunus teammates

“Will you two knock it off?”

“Sorry, you just make it so easy sometimes. So what were you working on?” Daisy said as you checked the calendar on your Scroll

“If I can get my hands on the right materials tonight, I should be able to show you fairly soon. Catch you guys at dinner.” You said as you headed out for a shopping trip to Vale

A few days later, you had finished the modifications to Tooth & Nail and went through a few test runs with everything checking out. Now that you had a long-range variant, you felt ready for anything; and soon enough came a day of combat training with sparring matches sanctioned by Ms. Goodwitch. Nearing the end of the session, Ms. Goodwitch looked to her Scroll one last time.

“Now for the final match of today, may we have Yang Xiao Long and (F/N) (L/N).”

You and Yang looked at each other and approached the stage together and went to your separate corners with a fist bump as your respective weapons unfolded into their full forms.

“Don’t worry (y/n), I’ll try to avoid your face.” Yang called

“Thanks, because I’m not messing up your hair.” You answered

“Smart boy.”

“Ready? Begin!” Ms. Goodwitch called

Dashing in, you and Yang met each other punch for punch while dodging the blasts from Yang’s gauntlets. Tapping into a fresh set of fire Dust, you set your gauntlets on fire to counter Yang’s blasts. One particular clash had enough force to push the two of you back to your corners just as your Dust ran out and Yang ran out of ammo. Catching your breath and looking up at the displays, yours and Yang’s aura were still plenty healthy.

“Not bad (y/n), but now we’re going to get serious.” Yang said as she reloaded Ember Celica with her long-range shells and crashed her fists together as her hair started glowing.

You had been waiting for this kind of opportunity as your hair stood up and your (e/c) eyes turned your Inner Beast’s yellow.

“Good, because I’ve been hoping to try this out.” You said as Tooth & Nail folded back into their wristband form

Yang, along with the class and Ms. Goodwitch, looked on as you took your usual fighting stance. You stood with your right foot forward and your arms similar to Yang, with the right in front as opposed to Yang with her left. Calmly, you switched your footing and your arms switched places as well, with the closed fists becoming open with palms facing up.

“Activate Dust Control Mode.” You said, causing the colored triangles on your bands to blink in response. Soon, your normally black fingerless gloves were covered in the silver metal of Tooth & Nail in a much smoother fashion with this same smooth finish extending up to your elbow. Finally, the triangles slid into the palm of your hand one resting at the base of each of your fingers. “Ready when you are, Yang.”

Yang fired a shell, taking a cautionary approach; your arms starting glowing green and swirls of wind began to circle around you. Just before the shell reached you, you created a sphere of cycling air in your palm and caught the shell. You then swiped upwards and deflected the path of the rocket, sending it skyward before popping in an orange firework. Yang stood in awe for a second before getting back into her rhythm, dancing around the arena and launching rockets one after another. Meeting Yang’s movements move for move, your Wind Dust caught the first two rockets causing them to collide into each other. With the next three, you created pockets of air and caught each of the rockets inside, sending them into orbit around you before shooting them back at Yang who quickly dodged. Finally dashing in, Yang met you and swung again but with your Wind Dust, you almost glided around Yang’s arm catching her mid-swing and throwing her. Quickly getting up and running back in, Yang tries again and again, you practically dance around her swing and, this time, tossed her upward as the wind died around you.

When Yang came crashing back down her hair was glowing brighter and her breathing was getting heavier; it was clear that she was getting mad.

“Keep it together Yang!” You heard Ruby from the stands

Clapping your hands together, your arms became coated in a thick layer of stone as you assumed your alternate stance.

“Alright,” Yang said as she crashed her fists together one more time, “let’s rock.”

Rushing in the crowd was dead silent as you and Yang once more met punch for punch and with each impact, a loud crack like thunder rang through the arena. Catching a glance at the display, Yang’s aura was close to game point but her onslaught continued. One after another you met her strikes and as she came in for one more punch you spotted the smallest of openings. Time seemed to slow down as you weaved underneath Yang’s swing and moved in, delivering a quick jab right to her stomach. Everyone stood frozen for a split second before you stepped to the side and Yang fell forward as the air horn sounded, calling the match.

The classroom was filled with applause as the remainder of your Earth Dust defense flaked off and Tooth & Nail returned to their standard form. Looking over at Yang, you offered her a hand up with a smile on her face. Grabbing your hand, you pulled Yang back onto her feet and gave her a quick fist-bump as the two of you returned to your teams. Ms. Goodwitch made one last announcement, explaining that first-year teams will be able to sign up for supervised field missions in the coming weeks, before releasing everyone for the day.

“The Beast of Beacon strikes again!” Nora cheered as your's, Ruby’s and Jaune’s teams headed out into the courtyard, “That was awesome (y/n), I didn’t know you had a second mode for your weapon. What was it called again?”

“Dust Control Mode right?” Weiss said, to which you nodded

“More of a long-range freestyle mode.” You said

“It certainly changes how one needs to act when facing you,” Ren added, “you’ll be a force to be reckoned with in the tournament.”

“Well, you sure left me in the Dust with that one (y/n).” Yang said, earning groans from her friends when her stomach suddenly started growling

“Getting to be around lunchtime, isn’t it? Who’s up for a visit to Uncle Jay’s?” You asked, receiving eleven cheers from your friends as you headed out to your uncle’s café.

A few weeks later, you and your team signed up for a field mission, scouting out an abandoned city for Grimm, and were preparing with extra training in the Emerald Forest both individually and as a team. One night, a few days before the field mission, you and your team were relaxing in your room when you heard a knock on the door. Getting up, you opened the door to see Yang standing in front of you.

“Hey Yang, what’s up?” You asked

“Not much, was about to go for a walk and wanted to see if anyone wanted to come with. We’ve all been getting ready for the field missions, and walks always help me relax.”

“I can agree to that. Sure, I’ll go with you.”

“Great.”

As you start to close the door, you heard Carmen call out, “Don’t stay out too late!” followed by laughter from your teammates. Looking over to Yang, she had that goofy grin on her face as the two of you headed outside.

Sitting down on a nearby bench, the two of you looked up at the stars for a few minutes before Yang broke the silence.

“So (y/n), what mission did you guys sign up for?” She asked

“Scouting out a city and taking out a few Grimm. You?”

“Same thing!”

“Sweet, maybe we’ll be working in the same place. It’s probably not likely but it’d be really cool.”

“Yeah, that would be cool.”

“I’ve got to admit; it feels…kind of weird going out into the field for a change. But it’s a good weird like I’m finally falling into the family tradition.”

“Got Huntsman in the family huh?” Yang asked to which you nodded

“My father and grandfather were all Huntsman. I grew up with stories about their adventures, which include how they met my mother and grandmother and how they settled down and started their families.”

“Aww, that’s sweet. I think you’re kind of lucky too, my mom wasn’t around when I was a kid.”

“Ouch, I wonder how Ruby felt.”

“Oh, Ruby’s mom was around.” She said as you looked at her, “We’re only half-sisters; the same dad, different moms, and Ruby’s the spitting image of hers. But it was okay, she was a great mom and a great cook too. But still, you’ve got a little family legacy like Weiss and it’s cool that you two have something that drives you. I’ve just always, gone with the flow, you know.”

“Nothing wrong with that,” You replied, “So what do you see yourself doing after Beacon?”

“I’m a thrill-seeker. I want to travel around the world and get wrapped up in as many crazy adventures as I can. And if I help people along the way, then that’s even better. It’s a win-win, y’know? I want a life where I don’t know what tomorrow will bring.”

“I get you, got to have fun while you can.” You said as you checked the time on your Scroll, “Wow is it that time already? Guess we better start heading back.”

Yang nodded and the two of you headed back to get some sleep.

About a week later, the first-years reported to the port to board airships heading to their field missions. You and your team were being supervised by Professor Port and about two hours after leaving Beacon your ship had reached the city, or what was left of it. The place looked like a bomb went off, buildings were destroyed and rubble littered the streets. Inside some of the remains, you could hear the cries of Grimm occasionally break the otherwise eerie silence. Setting down, your team and Professor Port exited the airship and took a minute to survey the area and establish a base camp.

“So what’s our first step, Professor?” Nick asked

“Our first step Mr. Frost is to wait for our B-Team and speak of the devil here they come now.” Professor Port said looking up to see a second airship come in for a landing and drop off Dr. Oobleck and, to your surprise, Ruby’s team.

When the dust from the ship taking off cleared, Dr. Oobleck walked up to Professor Port and shook his hand. Meanwhile, Ruby dashed up to you and tackled you nearly knocking you down.

“Yay! I told Yang we’d be working with you guys!” Ruby said as she let you go and ran up to hug Daisy and Nick while the others said their hellos

“You were right Bartholomew; I see great chemistry between these teams already.” Professor Port said as Dr. Oobleck nodded

“So Dr. Oobleck,” Weiss said, “Now that we’re all here, how shall we proceed?”

“An excellent question Ms. Schnee.” he said activating his Scroll and bringing up a projection of the city map, soon dividing it into four sections, “Our group shall be eliminating a large portion of the Grimm infesting this cityscape. On each of the four days of this trip, we will be clearing out a quadrant and fortifying any points of entrance that Grimm can get in. Let me be clear to not engage Grimm within any buildings, I speak from experience that you do not want to face these creatures in such close quarters. Before we begin with the quadrant we’re currently in, let’s form pairs in order to cover more ground. Take this opportunity to work with your friends outside of your team.”

Almost immediately, Yang slapped you on the back before wrapping her arm around your shoulders.

“Well, in that case, I call working with (y/n)!”

“Good idea, you too compliment each other with your fighting styles,” Weiss said, “and you really look the part together.”

“Says the girl wearing a dress.” Blake chuckled as she stood next to Carmen

“It’s a combat skirt.” Weiss said as Daisy and Ruby ran up to her sides and gave a simultaneous “Yeah!” before receiving high fives from Weiss.

When all was said and done the pairs were set: Nick and Ruby, Weiss and Daisy, Carmen and Blake and you and Yang. Professor Port made sure that everyone’s Scrolls were synced up and you all agreed to have some kind of warning flare in some form in case you found yourself with no service. For the first two days, everything went smoothly; everyone tackled the Grimm, mostly Beowolves and Boarbatusks but there was the occasional Nevermore or Death Stalker nest. About halfway through the third day, you and Yang were scouting out what looked to be town square, waiting on a rooftop to see if any Grimm entered the area. About 20 minutes later, a pack of Beowolf started passing through; you tapped Yang on the shoulder since she was half-asleep.

“Yang, wake up.”

“Huh-but I have a trap card…Wait what?” She said slowly waking up

“Shh…Beowolf pack in the square.”

“Finally, a chance at a rematch!” Yang said as she ran and jumped off the roof with you soon following her

Yang seemed to be into the competition a bit more than usual as she took care of the majority of the pack, making her the clear winner in your little game.

“Yes!” Yang cheered as she danced around while something caught your eye about these Grimm. Looking at one of the Beowolves, you saw something attached to its ankle. It was small metallic bracelet with a blinking red light, and the blinking seemed to be increasing in frequency.

“What’s up (y/n)?” Yang asked as she looked down and saw the bracelet, “Wait, what is that?”

“I think someone was tracking this pack of Grimm,” you as the blinking red light started beeping and then all of a sudden stopped, “which means I don’t think we’re the only people here.”

Grabbing Yang’s hand, you ran into one of the buildings nearby just in time to avoid a squad of White Fang soldiers. Behind them came a much bigger soldier wearing some kind of exo-suit; the armor of the suit increasing his size, and no doubt his power, by a considerable factor. His arms were fortified with large gauntlets, not unlike Tooth and Nail and his mask had orange markings. Towering at least 10 feet tall with the addition of the suit, he and the other White Fang began surveying the scene as you turned back to Yang

“Yang, we need to tell the others.” You said, getting a nod out of Yang as you both pull out your scrolls to see that you were out of service range

“Oh come on! What do you mean we don’t have any service? Why now?” Yang said, you could detect a hint of worry

“Calm down, let’s just wait it out and then set out a warning flare when they leave.”

Yang nodded and you started to try and listen to the White Fang.

“Looks like our intel was right, there are some Huntsman and Huntresses in the city,” the larger soldier said, “Spread out and search the surrounding buildings, they can’t be far.”

“Yes, Alpha!” The other soldiers said in unison before splitting off in different directions before the “Alpha” was standing alone in the square.

“You kids really thought you could hide from me?” The Alpha called out, causing you and Yang to freeze in place, “Just be thankful this pack was meant for sport, still you’ve seen just enough where I can’t allow you to leave this place.”

Pressing a button on his chestplate and starting to run in your direction, the Alpha began to pick up speed as his armor started glowing. Some large rubble stood between him and the building you were hiding in, but the Alpha just barreled through them, speeding up even more.

“Move!” You yelled, waking up Yang and getting out of the building before the Alpha crashed through the wall and coming out the other side of the building before the entire structure crumbled into nothing.

“Geez, this guy's real hard-headed huh?” Yang said with an uneasy smile

“As funny as that sort of was Yang, this is really not the time.” You replied

The Alpha charged again, but this time Yang ran up to meet him. Taking a swing, her fist was met by the Alpha’s armored limb and continued moving despite the impact. Once he had built up enough speed he pushed Yang away before coming to a stop in the middle of the square. The force sent Yang flying into a wall, resulting in a crater in the stone as she slid down the wall.

“Ok, the direct route is not going to work here.” You said to yourself as the Alpha turned to face you while you collapsed Tooth & Nail, “So, let’s take a more freestyle approach. Activate Dust Control Mode.”

Tooth & Nail transformed into their Control Mode as the Alpha charged you. Wind flowing around your limbs again, you jumped over the Alpha just before his arm met you. The Alpha stopped and turned around, charging at you again as you waited until the last moment again and dodged the charge. Tapping into your Earth Dust, your arms were coated in a thick layer of stone again. Once the Alpha starting charging again, you dug into the concrete and uprooted a large chunk of the pavement. You tossed the pavement at the Alpha and then slammed your fists into the ground repeatedly, causing thick columns of earth to sprout from the ground. The Alpha’s armor encased his head in a thick helmet and he charged through the pavement and columns despite it all. You tried to block this charge but at the last second, the Alpha stopped and his suit fired off numerous cables which wrapped around you.

“Nice try kid. Really, it was a good effort. But this is where our little game ends; and when I’m done with you,” he said quickly looking at Yang, “she’s next. That’ll send a message to your fellow Huntsman not to mess with the White Fang.”

All of a sudden, a large explosion collided with the Alpha’s back. Turning back, you both saw Yang rushing towards you with her hair on fire and her eyes a burning red. The initial explosion caused the cables to release you, and Yang ran to your side before launching some rocket-powered punches at the Alpha.

“Keep. Your. Hands. Off. My. Man!” She said with each punch, causing the Alpha to stagger back with each blow

Before Yang fired off that last punch, you used your ice Dust to coat the ground behind the Alpha in ice. When she delivered the blow, the force combined with the loss of traction on the ice sent the Alpha sliding into the crater Yang had made in the wall. Since the wall was weakened from before, he broke through and caused the building to crumble down on top of him.

“You ok (y/n)?” Yang said, her soft lilac eyes meeting your (e/c) eyes as she helped you up

“Yeah, I’m f-mmph!” You said as Yang pulled you into a kiss. Initially shocked you started to adjust and wrapped your arms around her waist, running your fingers in her long blond hair as she did the same to your (h/c) hair

“Sorry, I…I just wanted to do that once, just in case. Live like there’s no tomorrow right?” She said with a light chuckle when you let go as a blush formed on her cheeks, which quickly deepened as you kissed her on the cheek.

“Don’t be sorry.” You said with a soft smile, before hearing the sound of moving rubble as the Alpha freed himself

Turning Tooth & Nail back to their Dust Weapon form, you activated your Semblance and turned to Yang as your eyes turned bright yellow once more.

“Ready hot stuff?” You said as her trademark grin returned

“You know it, babe.” She said as her eyes turned red once more

Rushing in before the Alpha could fully recuperate, you and Yang blitzed him with punch after punch. Yang’s rockets at point-blank combined with your Fire-Dust infused punches created additional force beside your initial strikes, causing the Alpha’s exo-suit armor to start cracking. Trying to get a move in the Alpha, with a roar of rage and aggravation, lunged at the two of you; but you were ready. Jumping at the last second you and Yang used the Alpha’s own armored arms as springboards as you delivered not one but two uppercuts to his head, shattering his mask and sending him reeling back into the empty square.

The eerie silence returned to the area as you and Yang stepped out into the open again. The Alpha lay unconscious in front of you as Yang slowly walked over to a wall and sat down resting against it.

“Yang? You OK?” You asked

“Yeah, I’m…I’m fine.” She said wearily, “Send up the flare before the White Fang come back, hurry.”

You nodded and shifted back to Dust Control Mode, using your Lightning Dust you formed a ball of electricity in your hands before shooting into the air. The ball flew above the buildings and exploded into a firework of lightning as thunder rolled through the air. Turning around, you could see Yang passed out where she was; rushing back and grabbing her hand you were concerned until her fingers curled around yours and a small smile found its way to her face. Resting her head on your shoulders, your eyes started to flutter closed as you felt yourself slip away into unconsciousness.

What felt like an eternity later, your eyes slowly opened to see a familiar scene: your room. Slowly sitting up, you looked around and you were in fact in your bed in your room back at Beacon. All was quiet until you heard the door open and your team along with Professor Ozpin and a man whom you recognized as General James Ironwood of Atlas enter.

“(Y/N)! You’re awake!” Daisy cheered, quickly running up and wrapping her arms around you

“Ouch…” You grunted from the light pain in your sides when Daisy hugged you

“Sorry…”

“It’s good to see you awake Mr. (L/N),” Professor Ozpin said taking a sip from his coffee “when Peter and Bartholomew returned early with news of the White Fang at your mission site, it was comforting to see your condition wasn’t critical.”

“How…How long was I out?”

“A couple of days.” Nick said

“Still, it is a testament to Ozpin’s training that you two were able to not only face but defeat a White Fang Alpha.” Ironwood added

“White Fang Alpha?” You asked

“High-ranking members of the White Fang, you apparently faced their Assault Specialist. The criminal was apprehended not too long after your extraction. This kind of blow to the White Fang will greatly assist our fight against them, so you and Ms. Xiao Long have my deepest thanks.”

“Oh, speaking of Yang is she alright?” You asked

“We just got back from seeing her, she woke up not too long ago.” Carmen said, “If you’d like you can go see her.”

“I would.” You said getting up and slowly walking out the door

The walk to Team RWBY’s dorm felt a little longer than usual, but that was probably because of your aching body. Turning the corner, you saw Ruby, Weiss, and Blake leaving their room and seeing you at the end of the hallway.

“(Y/N)! You’re awake!” Ruby said running up and hugging you

“Ouch…I’m detecting a pattern here.”

“Oh, sorry.” Ruby said letting go, “Did you just get up?”

“Yeah not too long ago and I wanted to check on Yang. Is she up?”

“Yeah, we decided to let her rest though.” Blake said

“But, I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if you visited.” Weiss added

“Yeah, I was planning on keeping it quick anyway.” You said as Ruby walked up to their door and opened it to let you in.

Stepping inside as Ruby closed the door you saw Team RWBY’s bunk beds, which you thought was a creative solution to the space issue, and you saw Yang resting in her bed. Pulling a chair up to her bed, you slowly sat down and just enjoyed the fact that Yang was safe. Moving a few strands of that beautiful blonde hair out of her face, her eyes slowly fluttered opened and soon met your own.

“(Y/N)?”

“Hey, babe.” You said

“You doing okay?” She asked

“I kind of hurt…all over, but I’ll be fine.”

“Same here. Hey, you remember when I said that I want a future where I don’t know what tomorrow brings?”

“Sure.” You answered

“Well, I still want that but I’d like one constant in my future.”

“What would that be?” You asked as a blush grew on Yang’s cheeks

“To be with you.” She said with a warm smile

Chuckling slightly, you leaned down and pressed her soft lips to yours causing time to almost stop until you let go to breathe as a small strand of saliva linked the two of you for a split second more.

“I love you (y/n).” She said with a yawn

“I love you too Yang, now get some sleep.” You said with one more kiss to her forehead before getting up and leaving to let her rest as you headed back to your room to do the same thing.

After a week of recovery, you were back on your feet and back in the training groove. Deep in the Emerald Forest one day, you were fighting the remaining head of a King Taijitu; you blocked its fangs with Tooth & Nail in Weapon Mode before shifting to Control Mode and shooting icicle spears at its eyes. From out of the treetops, you saw numerous red rockets shoot towards the Grimm and then a yellow flash came crashing down, crushing the serpent’s skull. When the dust cleared, you saw Yang standing on the Grimm’s carcass with her trademark smile as she stepped down and started walking towards you.

“I could’ve taken him.” You said

“Sure, sure.” She said as a howl echoed through the trees

“Beowolf pack.” You said, “Up for round 3?”

Moving through the treetops, the two of you came upon the pack in question mid-fight with a pair of Ursa

“Looks like their bark isn’t as big as their bite.” She joked, not skipping a beat

“Ha Ha.” You replied

“Oh, shut up and kiss me.” She said as she wrapped her arm around your neck and brought her lips to yours

“Love you.” She said

“Love you too.” You said as the two of you dropped down onto two Beowolf before jumping into the chaos of battle that you both love so much
It's finally here...after almost a month (Why must you be so difficult life?)
But anyway I present to you my next RWBY Male Reader Insert featuring Yang Xiao Long herself!RWBY Gif - Yang 3
I know a few of you have been waiting for this one (I'm looking at you :iconassassin57: and :iconandrex231:) and I thank you for your patience.

Anyway, as usual this was a lot of fun to write since Yang is a fun character in general, however as I was writing it I found a few similarities between the Reader's character and Yang, namely with their weapons.  So what did I do you ask? Why unlock Tooth & Nail's second form of course!  Thus, Dust Control Mode was born.  To compare it to your base mode, Dust Weapon Mode, which was primarily melee with a short range for projectiles, Dust Control Mode has a much longer range and frees up your movements in battle to allow you to tap into the Dust to a more raw degree.  It also switches up your fighting style as well: With Dust Weapon Mode, the Reader uses a boxing/kickboxing combination much like Yang, but in Dust Control Mode you use a combination of Tai Chi for defense and Wing Chun for offense.  Essentially, it allows you to become the AvatarAvatar- the last airbender, but only until your Dust runs out (Every strength needs a weakness, keeps down the OP Factor)

In fact, the first switch to Dust Control Mode in the story is a reference to Dead Fantasy 3, where Hitomi switches fighting styles to beat the crap out of Tifa (Which in case you didn't know, was also animated by Monty Oum).  But, the references don't stop there folks!  After switching to Dust Control Mode, you proceed to dance around Yang like Neo did near the end of Volume 2, which was a fight I always did enjoy.

Then we meet the latest White Fang Alpha, the Assault.  For some reason, I see the exo-suit he's wearing as one of the AST's in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, but minus the projectiles and focused on melee.  This particular Alpha battles a bit like Spiderman's Rhino, charging through everything and anything; simple but effective at times

And for the final reference, for my Naruto fans out there, yes you and Yang Uzumaki Barrage him for the win.

Once again, shout-outs to :iconneo-chan7: and :iconyellowninja123: for inspiring me to write these RWBY Readers with their own awesome work.

Anyway, that wraps up Team RWBY, but I'm only halfway done with these RWBY Readers.  Gonna take a break to finish up classes and work on a few non-RWBY Readers to clear my head and I'll start RWBY Part 2 after those.

Hope everyone enjoys!
As always comments and faves are welcome and much appreciated!
