As you stepped off of the airship and onto the platform, your (e/c) eyes adjusted to the sunlight as the afternoon breeze waved through your mid-length (h/c) hair. While people got off the airship behind you, you knelt down to tie your shoelaces and take in the grand sight of Beacon Academy. You had received your letter of acceptance a few weeks ago and were beyond excited to join the best Huntsman training academy in Vale. While you were excited, you were able to keep it in; unlike your friend Jaune, who’s face was currently buried in a trash can.

“I told you dude; you should’ve taken those motion sickness pills.” You said as you rested against a wall to wait for your friend to finish

About five minutes later, the blonde’s stomach had finally settled and removed his head from the wastebasket.

“All right, smart guy. But now I’m feeling better and ready to show the ladies what I’ve got!”
Jaune said pointing to an empty courtyard, the only ones hearing him being you and a random tumbleweed that rolled in front of him.

You chuckled as Jaune stood there for a few minutes, realizing that everybody was already gone. Everyone except for someone you spotted out of the corner of your eye. Lying on the ground was a girl in a black and red dress with black boots and a red cape.

“Hey,” you said pointing out the girl to Jaune, “what about her?”

Jaune noticed the girl, then looked back at you. Taking a breath, he started to head towards her with you not too far behind.

After helping her up, you found out her name was Ruby, which made sense with the red cape and red-colored tips in her black hair. What was also very apparent with her was that she loved weapons, as she showed with her giant scythe that happened to also be a sniper rifle. She also showed appreciation for Jaune’s weapons, which were simple but they can be effective too.

“So (y/n),” she said turning to you, “what kind of weapons do you have?”

“Well I don’t know if it beats a High-Caliber Sniper-Scythe,” you said as you showed off your twin silver wristbands, “but I do have these.”

Clicking the two bands together, they unfolded into a pair of metal gauntlets that extended up to your elbow, with five multicolored triangles set along the length of the gauntlet.

“Wow!” Ruby said excitedly before her expression turned blank, “What are they?”

“Well for starters”, you said as you clenched your fist which caused the red triangle to glow “they’re Dust Projection Gauntlets, with five chambers to hold Dust for me to use.” When you opened your hand, a small flame was burning in your palm.

“Oh okay, so what do you call them?”

“Tooth and Nail, because the Dust gives them plenty of bite, but if I need to,” you said extinguishing the flame and moving your wrist, causing claws to extend from your fingertips and a pair of blades to extend from under the main arm guard, “I can still deal some damage.”

“Cool!” Ruby said as you retracted the blades and collapsed your gauntlets back into wristband form, “So, any idea where we’re supposed to be going?”

“I was following you.” Jaune said to her as they both turned to you

“I thought I saw a sign or two over that way. Let’s go.”

A few minutes later, the three of you had made it to the main hall where the other first-years had congregated. You looked over to Ruby, who appeared to be scanning the crowd for somebody and soon saw a taller blonde girl waving in your direction.

“Friend of yours Ruby?” You said pointing her out

“My older sister, I’ll introduce you later. See ya!” Ruby said as she dashed off to join her sister while you and Jaune filed in together

After Professor Ozpin’s speech to the class, all of the new students were corralled into the dining hall for the night. Apparently, you all were going to be sorted into teams tomorrow, so you were going to stay here for one night until teams were formed and classes started. You were in your pajamas, a simple t-shirt and (f/c) sleeping pants, sitting on your sleeping bag and looking out the window, sketchpad in hand as you drew the night skyline of Vale. A few minutes later, Jaune sat down next to you and sighed.

“I don’t get it man; I’ve tried being confident around the ladies like my dad told me but I don’t seem to be getting anywhere.”

“I’m no expert either dude. But I know the first step to real confidence is taking a look at yourself.” You replied, causing Jaune to look down at his blue full-body pajamas

“You got a problem with how I dress?”

“It’s not just your clothes, it’s how you act. Boast that you can jump over the moon, and people are going to be real disappointed when you can’t. Go with your strengths at first, you’ve got the ‘nice guy’ routine down. You’ll find someone; treat Beacon like the chance to find out what works for you. Take that guy over there.”

You pointed off to your left and Jaune looked to see a tall brown-haired boy with glasses sitting with two girls, one with a pair of rabbit ears on her head and the other had a fox’s ears and tail.

“What do you think the odds are that those three knew each other before today?” You asked

“Hmm…” Jaune mumbled, “The girls might’ve known each other but I guess he just met them today.”

“Exactly,” you said before noticing Ruby and her sister talking to another girl across the room, and the conversation did not look to be a positive one, “just give it time. You’ll figure it out.”

Jaune looked back at you and nodded before heading back to his sleeping bag for the night. You, on the other hand, closed your sketchpad and headed over to Ruby and her sister.

“Hey, Ruby.” You greeted

“Oh, hey (y/n)!” Ruby said with a smile

“So this is (y/n)?” Said a taller blonde girl with lilac eyes lying next to Ruby

“That’s me.” You said sitting next to Ruby, “So you’re Ruby’s sister?”

“Yep, name’s Yang. Nice to meet you.”

“Nice to meet you.” You said as you looked down at Ruby, who seemed to be writing a letter, “What are you doing Ruby?”

“Huh? Oh just writing to my friends back at Signal Academy.”

“Aren’t your friends here?”

Ruby shook her head, “Long story short, Professor Ozpin let me skip two years of training at Signal and start here. All of my friends are still back at Signal Academy.” She explained, clearly looking down about her situation

“Well you’ve got your sister, and you’ve got me and Jaune; so it’s not all bad right?”

Ruby looked up at you with her silver eyes and you smiled a warm smile, causing one to grow on her face as well.

“Try to get some sleep yeah? Got a big day tomorrow.” You said as you got up and headed for your sleeping bag, but not before Ruby got up and hugged you

“Thanks (y/n).” She said as she settled down for the night and you soon left her to do the same, trying to hide the light blush that was present on your cheeks

The next day, you and the other first-year students were flung, literally, into a Grimm-filled forest outside of the academy to complete the formation of your teams. According to Ozpin, partners will be made within the forest depending on the first person you make eye contact with and two pairs were going to make up a team. Not long after entering the forest, you encountered the fox Faunus you saw last night, whose name was apparently Carmen, and you and she found the other two from last night, the boy being called Nick and the rabbit Faunus was named Daisy. The four of you reached the ruins that Ozpin mentioned to find chess pieces on pedestals, some of which were missing. Nick put together that since there were two of each piece, teams of four were going to be made from the pairs with the same pieces. Grabbing the black rooks, the four of you headed back to Ozpin and awaited the others. After all of the teams were formed, you were surprised to learn that not only was Jaune named the leader of his team and that Ruby was going to be the leader of her team, but that you were going to be the leader of your team. Your teammates and friends congratulated you and from then on you knew this was going to be an interesting experience.

A few weeks later, you and your team were awoken by Nick’s Scroll Alarm to a beautiful Saturday morning. Nick, being the kind of guy to think three steps ahead, had been helping you and your team keep track of time and school stuff. Over the past couple of weeks, you all had really gotten to know Jaune and Ruby’s teams and were really good friends all around; even Weiss, who took a while to get used to Carmen and Daisy in particular, had grown comfortable in you and your team’s company.

“Good thing we agreed on a later alarm on days we don’t have classes huh?” You said as you got out of bed

“You said it.” Carmen said before disappearing into the bathroom with Daisy and coming out a few minutes later dressed in their casual clothes

“You two still going out to the commercial district with Blake and Yang?” Nick asked, earning nods from the two Faunus, “What about you boss?” He said turning to you

“Jaune sent me a message asking to help with his studies. I’ve been needing to catch up myself so I’ll be at the library.” You said as you grabbed your backpack and Scroll and headed for the door, “See you guys at dinner.”

About twenty minutes later, you had arrived at Beacon Academy’s library. Scanning the tables, you spotted Jaune with Pyrrha knee-deep in studying. Looking up for a second, Jaune saw you and gave you a thumbs-up signaling that he and Pyrrha had things under control. You gave him one in return and turned around to find a table covered in open books and a girl fast asleep in front of them, her body covered by a red cape.

“Ruby?” You said to yourself as you approached the girl and tapped her on the shoulder

The girl jolted awake at your touch and sure enough, it was Ruby asleep at the desk.

“Huh-Wha…(y/n)?” Ruby asked still half-asleep

“Good morning sleepyhead,” You smiled, “Dr. Oobleck’s lectures boring even outside of the classroom?”

“No,” Ruby giggled, “I’m still working on Professor Port’s stuff, guess I’ve been studying for longer than I thought.”

You chuckled and set your stuff down, “I could help you study if you want. But first I’m going to get some coffee, want some?” You asked

“Okay, cream and five sugars in mine.”

A few minutes later, you had gotten the coffees and sat back down with Ruby.

“Before we get started I have to ask, what’s with the hardcore study session?” You said

“I skipped two years at Signal, I have a lot of weight on my shoulders between all of my catching up and being my team’s leader,” she said as she took a sip of her coffee, “I just don’t want to let my teammates down.”

“You’ll figure it out. Ozpin doesn’t make decisions like that without a really good reason, so just give it time. Now,” You said turning to your books, “where do you want to start?”

Two hours into studying, you had gone over the basic types of Grimm and their strengths and weaknesses. It took Ruby a few tries, but eventually, she got it down and asked you to review with her.

“Okay, next is the King Taijitu. Which head has which kind of venom?” You asked

“The black head’s venom paralyzes and the white head’s venom attacks your blood flow, making it harder to heal.” Ruby said confidently

“Good, but what about a Death Stalker’s venom?”

“Wait…” Ruby hummed as she thought, “we haven’t gone over that yet.”

“Good catch, Professor Port hasn’t covered this in class yet, but I tend to read ahead. A Death Stalker’s venom not only has a paralyzing agent but also contains a very powerful neurotoxin which if left unchecked can kill since it also nullifies your Aura.”

“Ouch…” Ruby said as she rubbed her neck inattentively, “Is there any cure for it?”

“Oh sure, but while we have developed an antivenin it’s very rarely used. There are less conventional means of treating it, but there are some really big risk factors that go along with it.”

“Like what?”

Before you could answer, you spotted Yang and Carmen walking into the library and noticing you and Ruby.

“Hey partner,” Carmen said as they walked up to the table, “still hitting the books?”

“Yep, just helping Ruby finish up with studying.”

“See?” Carmen said nudging Yang’s shoulder, “I told you they look cute together.”

Both yours and Ruby’s face grew bright red when Carmen said this, resulting in Carmen laughing while Yang tried to hold her giggles in.

“Come on you two,” Yang said, “It’s almost time for dinner.”

The two girls left you and Ruby to pack up your things and headed to the cafeteria.

“I’m so sorry about that, Carmen can’t help herself sometimes.” You apologized

“Don’t worry about it. It’s good to have a sense of humor, especially given our…Grimm line of work.” Ruby joked

“Wow,” you said with a facepalm, “I would’ve expected that from Yang but not you, guess you really are sisters.”

You and Ruby had a good laugh and soon headed to the dining hall to join your teams.

Late one night about a week later, while your teammates were fast asleep, you were in bed reading the news on your Scroll. One of the more major articles was an update on the White Fang, how reports have been coming in of sightings of what were being called “White Fang Alphas”, members specializing in a certain skillset. All of a sudden you heard a knock on your door, thankful that your teammates didn’t wake up. Getting up and opening the door, you found Ruby in front of you.

“Ruby? What are you doing here?” You asked

“I couldn’t sleep. Sorry if I woke you or your teammates up, I just wanted to know if you wanted to take a quick walk with me.”

“Don’t worry, you didn’t wake anyone up. It’s a nice night so how about a walk around the school gardens? That always helps me unwind, just give me a second to grab my jacket.”

“Sounds good.” Ruby said as you grabbed your jacket and headed out with her

Fifteen minutes later, you and Ruby were walking around the gardens near the student dorms. Passing through the trees was a cool night breeze that wafted through your hair as you and Ruby sat on a bench and looked up at the stars. Looking over at Ruby, you could see that she was feeling a lot better about her whole situation now that she’s had time to adjust.

“Hey, Ruby?” You asked

“Yeah?”

“Why do you want to become a Huntress? I know everyone has their own personal reasons, but I can’t say that I’m not curious.”

“You’ll think it’s really corny.” She replied

“I promise I won’t.”

“Okay,” she said as she looked up at the full moon, “well, as a girl I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books. Someone who fought for what was right and protected people who couldn’t protect themselves.”

Turning to you, Ruby saw the smile that had formed on your face and she looked away from you.

“I told you. You think it’s cheesy.”

“No, I don’t.” You said as she turned back to you

“Really?”

“Yeah, it’s cool that you want to help other people.”

Your (e/c) eyes met Ruby’s silver eyes as she leaned against your shoulder while you turned your gaze back to the moon. Not a few minutes later, you turned back to Ruby and smiled when you saw that she was fast asleep. Carefully standing and putting her on your back, you started carrying her back to the dorms. When you had reached the building your Scroll started ringing; pulling it out you saw that Yang was calling you.

“Hello?”

“Hey (y/n), is Ruby with you? She said she was going for a walk and she forgot her Scroll again.”

“Yeah, she’s with me. We’re coming up the elevator now.”

“Cool, thanks (y/n).” Yang said as she hung up

A few minutes later, you had arrived at Ruby’s dorm and with a few knocks, you were greeted by Weiss, Yang, and Blake as they helped Ruby to bed.

“Are those bunk beds?” you asked, “Are you sure they’re stable?”

“They don’t look like it, but they’ve held up so far.”

“All right then, see you guys in class tomorrow.” You said as you left their dorm to return to your own.

A few days later, you and your class went on a field trip to the forest known as Forever Fall. According to Ms. Goodwitch, you were to collect samples of red sap for Professor Peach. While you had collected the sap, the day wasn’t without its share of surprise; particularly when Jaune saved Cardin from a surprise attack by an Ursa Major. It felt good to see your friend stand up for his team, and later you asked Ruby to sit with you on the ride back to Beacon.

“Hey Weiss, have you seen Ruby around?” You asked as the day began to draw to a close

“Come to think of it, she said she wanted to explore some caves that were nearby to the east but that was almost an hour ago.”

“Huh, that’s odd,” you said hiding the worry growing in you, “I’ll see if I can find her.” You said as you ran off in the direction Weiss pointed out

When you got to the area where Jaune was attacked by the Ursa Major, you spotted Ruby’s boot prints in the red grass heading behind a large bush. Following her tracks, you came across a cave entrance hidden behind a fallen tree, and as you hopped over the trunk you spotted Ruby’s trail along with another set of prints. The spread led you to believe a struggle happened and in the cave, you could hear the struggling continue. Moving as quietly into the cave as you could, you found out that the cave was actually a tunnel and ducking behind a large rock as the tunnel opened on the other end, you caught a glimpse of a very unsettling scene.

You had stumbled upon a White Fang camp, large enough to hold at least two dozen members from the looks of it. Tents lined the perimeter of the open field as members of the White Fang could be seen unloading their latest haul. You could only guess they had raided some kind of Dust shipment, as every crate bore the crest of the Schnee Dust Company. Then, out of a larger tent near the center, came a sight that made your stomach drop. Two White Fang Members carried Ruby out of the tent, her hands tied together and her mouth covered with a cloth. She tried to struggle against their grip but just couldn’t get away. Behind Ruby, two other individuals stepped out of the tent. One man wore a white suit with a gray scarf and black bowler hat, along with black gloves, pants and shoes and his orange hair covered his right eye. In his right hand he twirled a red and silver cane and under his left arm appeared to be a smaller case for special Dust crystals. Behind this man came what looked like a higher-ranking member of the White Fang. He wore the black body suit like the others, except he had more advanced armor with extra protection for his legs and head. His arm guards also looked like they had a set of retractable blades like Tooth & Nail and his mask had blue marks across the eye slits.

“Well, Red,” the man in the bowler hat said, “you really seem to have a knack for showing up in the wrong place at the wrong time don’t you?”

Ruby struggled and let out a muffled response, to which the man simply chuckled

“It was a good try though, being the big hero you want to be so badly; but now you’re all alone. No other Huntsmen or Huntresses around to save you this time.”

“That’s what you think.” You whisper to yourself as you unlocked Tooth & Nail and readied the Earth Dust you had slotted

“Well my dear Weapon Master,” he said turning to the White Fang behind him, “our mutual friend will be expecting this little package so I’ll leave her in your care, but I have to know. This one has been a particularly annoying thorn in my side for some time now, how do you plan on finishing her off?”

When the man said this, both you and Ruby stopped at looked this Weapon Master as a smile curved its way onto his face.

“As much I’d like my own swords to off another Huntress,” he said as he pulled Crescent Rose out from behind his back, quickly unfolding it to reveal its massive blade, “this just seems…fitting.”

Ruby was struggling much more vigorously now, but the two restraining her pushed her down on her knees and in her eyes, you saw the most real fear imaginable as tears began to creep down her cheeks.

“Oh, the irony is absolutely delicious!” The man in the white suit laughed, “I have to get a shot of this before I leave!” The man pulled out a Scroll and snapped a photo of Ruby and the Weapon Master as a Bullhead jet rose up from below the nearby cliff, its bay doors opening and the man stepped inside.

As the ship gained altitude and took off, the Weapon Master returned to his victim. Stepping closer and closer, Ruby tried to run away but couldn’t move an inch as the White Fang readied Crescent Rose to strike. Finding the moment, you dashed in as the Weapon Master swung and Ruby closed her eyes and let out a muffled scream.

Time froze for an instant as Ruby opened her eyes to find you in front of her, blocking Crescent Rose with your gauntlets. Turning to the White Fang, you could see he was clearly surprised by your interference; and you turned this surprise to your advantage as you quickly disarmed him of the scythe with a quick kick to the gut, sending him staggering back as you slammed your fists, now charged with Earth Dust, into the ground. The resulting shockwave toppled tents, cracked crates and left the Weapon Master and other White Fang dazed and/or incapacitated under rubble. Quickly turning to Ruby, you could see absolute joy on her face as you untied her hands and removed her gag; almost immediately upon being freed she wrapped her arms around you.

“I…I was so scared. Thank you…Thank you so much (y/n)!” She said between sobs

“It’s all right Ruby, there’s no way I’d let anything happen to you.” You said as you heard a moaning coming from behind you

You and Ruby turned to see the Weapon Master freeing himself from the rocks with his claws and several other White Fang coming out from under the overturned tents.

“Can you fight?” You asked as you coated your gauntlets with earth while Ruby reclaimed Crescent Rose

“I’m still a little shaken up, but I’ll be fine. What’s the plan?”

“You handle the cronies, I got the big guy.” You said as the Weapon Master stood up and signaled the attack, moving forward with his subordinates.

In the blink of an eye, Ruby kicked on her Semblance and moved behind the White Fang as you charged forward to meet the Weapon Master.

“Quite the tracker, aren’t you little pup?” He said with a flurry of claw swipes, which you blocked with relative ease before moving into a clash as the rock coating of Tooth & Nail began to flake off, your Earth Dust reaching expiration, “Got any more tricks up your sleeves?”

Pushing his claws off of you as the last of the rock fell off, you revealed your own blades and took a swing at him but just barely missed as he cleared out.

“Trust me, I’ve got a big bark and a bite to back it up.” You said as you triggered your Lightning Dust, the blades now giving off electricity.

Dashing back in, the Weapon Master proceeded to keep you off-balance as he used his speed to circle around you multiple times. You tried to catch him with your claws, but he kept weaving around you; thankfully Ruby was having better luck despite the number of White Fang she was fighting.Catching the Weapon Master between dodges, you got in a good swipe just as the Dust wore off, your opponent still getting a minor shock. Unfortunately, you put too much force into the swing and before you could recover, he ducked under you and gave you a knee to the gut in return causing you to drop to your knees and let out a rough grunt.

“Nice try pup, but that’s what you get for playing with the big dogs.” The Weapon Master said as he kicked you while you were down

You let out another grunt when his boot hit your stomach, this one much louder than the previous one. As she swung around and disarmed another three of the White Fang, Ruby turned to see you on the ground with the Weapon Master slowly approaching you and clicking a button, his blades now had a yellow sheen about them.

“(Y/N)!” Ruby said as she dashed towards you

You looked up to see the Weapon Master start to swing his claws, time slowing down as the blades came closer. Another second later, your vision was blocked by a red cape and your eyes widened to see Ruby take the slash for you before she tumbled a distance away.

“RUBY!” You yelled as her body settled amongst the red grass motionless before turning back to the Weapon Master, a smile on his face as a trace of blood trickled down the edge of his claws.

You heard movement come from the tunnel you came out of and out of the corner of your eye you could see Weiss and Yang behind the same rock you hid behind before, their faces as horrified as your own before looking to you. You could feel your body tense up as you struggled to stand, digging past the pain to activate your Semblance. When you did, the Weapon Master turned to face you as his subordinates surrounded you. Your breathing grew heavy as your body was suddenly enveloped in an (f/c) glow, your Aura increasing in intensity to the point of it becoming visible. Weiss, Yang, and the White Fang looked on in surprise as your blades became infused with your Wind Dust, extending their edges with sharply circulating air. Your (h/c) hair began to stand on end and on the top of your head, your hair peaked in two places, almost resembling ears a Faunus might have. Then they noticed your eyes, no longer their usual (e/c) they had turned bright yellow and your pupils were sharp vertical slits.

“That…was a big mistake.” You said as your Semblance fully activated

Not even appearing to move, you dashed out of sight of the White Fang, the group looking around for you in sheer confusion. An instant later, one of their rifles was cut in two as the soldier carrying it dropped it out of surprise. One after another, swords were separated from their hilts and guns were split down the middle before you had disarmed the entire group of White Fang save for the Weapon Master. Grouping together, the White Fang looked visibly shaken at your speed as you took to blinking right in front of a pair of them and swiping with Tooth & Nail, the force of your enhanced strength combined with the Wind Dust shredding through their armor, sending them crashing into the trees and knocking them out cold. Beads of sweat crept out from under the White Fang masks as their numbers quickly dwindled until the Weapon Master stood alone in the field.

“Who’s the little pup now?” You said as you blinked in front of him, your blades retracted but your hands and feet glowed with green light. Grabbing the sides of his head, you brought it crashing down onto your rising knee, shattering his mask as the recoil bounced his head off of your knee. He started to leave the ground just slightly, so you reached for his claws and ripped them off his arm guards bringing him back down to deliver one final roundhouse kick to his chest. Your Wind Dust created a wave of wind from your kick that sent the White Fang careening into a tree trunk like the others, coupled with a slash mark across his chest and any tree trunks that the wave met, nearby bushes had their tops cut clean off as the former White Fang camp grew dead silent except for your breathing as your Semblance wore off, your hair and eyes returning to normal.

Once you had taken a breath to collect yourself, you turned and ran to Ruby as Weiss and Yang came out of the tunnel. Kneeling down and carefully turning Ruby over, her skin was cold to the touch and the slash marks from the Weapon Master’s claws ran along her cheeks and forearms.

“Ruby? Ruby, can you hear me?” You asked but got no response as Weiss and Yang reached you

“(Y/N) what in the world was that? What happened to my sister? What happened here?” Yang asked in a panic at the sight of her unconscious sibling

“I’ll explain later Yang, go get Ms. Goodwitch. She needs to see this so we can get Ruby some help.”

Yang nodded and ran back into the tunnel while Weiss knelt next to you, looking Ruby over for any other injuries

“(Y/N) was that your Semblance when your eyes turned yellow?” She asked

“Yeah, it’s called Inner Beast; it amplifies my speed, strength, and senses to match an almost feral level. It’s pretty effective as you saw.”

You looked back at Weiss who was still checking Ruby.

“It doesn’t make sense; these cuts aren’t that deep so why are they still there? Shouldn’t her Aura be healing her?”

You were wondering the same thing and then remembered that the Weapon Master’s claws had a yellowish shine to them before Ruby jumped in the way of his blows. Noticing one of them near you, you picked it up and felt a sharp aroma instantly pierce your nostrils.

“Oh no…” You said as you realized what this smell meant

“What is it (y/n)?” Weiss asked as you fiddled in your leg pouch for a small bottle of clear liquid, “What’s that?”

“A mixture of medicinal alcohol, minor antibiotics, and indicating solution.”

“Indicating solution?”

Pouring a small amount onto the cuts on Ruby’s face, they started to glow yellow, and the glow continued throughout the veins in her face.

“What the…?” Weiss asked in response to this sight

“His claws were coated with a toxin, and what’s worse is that it was Death Stalker venom.” You said, recognizing the reaction of the solution

“WHAT?! Why are we sitting here, we need to get Ruby help now!”

“At the rate it’s spreading, we may not have time.” You said as you felt a tear coming before remembering one of the more “unconventional” ways to treat Death Stalker venom from your studies.

Placing your hands over the cuts on Ruby’s cheeks you closed your eyes and concentrated, your (f/c) Aura resonating from your body. After a few seconds, Ruby’s body began to glow red and yellow vapors started flowing out of the cuts on her arms.

“What…What are you doing (y/n)?” Weiss asked

“Transferring my Aura to Ruby, the venom attacks mine while Ruby’s heals her and expels the venom.”

“Are you crazy?! You know how dangerous that is, you…you could get yourself killed!”

“If it saves Ruby’s life that’s a risk I’m willing to take.” You said staring Weiss down for a second or two as she nodded and let you continue.

Feeling your body grow weaker, you continued to shield Ruby’s Aura with yours. You nearly passed out a few times but you held on, remembering just how close you and Ruby had gotten. After what felt like the longest few minutes of your life, the yellow vapors ceased and Ruby’s skin turned back to normal. Soon, her beautiful silver eyes slowly opened and looked at you.

“(Y/N)?” She asked weakly

“I told you,” You said as you pushed some of her hair out of her face, “there’s no way I’d let anything happen to you.”

A smile formed on Ruby’s face as she fell asleep in the field. Watching her sleep safe and sound, you tried to get up but soon felt the force of using your Aura in that manner and fell over next to Ruby, your blurring vision making out Yang leading not only Ms. Goodwitch but Jaune and your team through the tunnel to the field before everything went black.

“Do you think he’s going to wake up soon?”

“He used a lot of Aura to save Ruby Jaune, but he seems to be recovering just fine.”

“Hey guys, I think I saw him move.”

“Oh, what happened?” You asked, your head still lightly pounding

You heard these voices all around you as your eyes slowly opened to see Carmen, Nick, Jaune, Blake, Weiss, and Yang standing around you. Judging by your surroundings, it looked like you were in the Beacon infirmary.

“B…Beacon? When did we get back?”

“You’ve been unconscious since we found you in that field three days ago Mr. (l/n),” Ms. Goodwitch said stepping up next to Jaune at the foot of your bed, “Weiss told us what you did for Ms. Rose and I must say that your actions were very commendable young man, quite worthy of the Huntsman name.”

“So Ruby’s alright?”

“A little bed rest when we got back and she was just fine. She’s waiting outside with Daisy and Pyrrha.” Jaune said

“Good.”

“Also General Ironwood of the Atlesian Military and the Schnee Dust Company send their regards.” Weiss added, “Turns out that White Fang you fought was one of the Alphas, and we recovered a good portion of stolen Dust from their camp.”

Suddenly, a few knocks on the door were heard and everyone turned to see Daisy at the door.

“I think Ruby’s waited long enough,” Blake said, “let’s give them some time alone.”

“Good idea,” Carmen added, “after all, Ruby’s been checking in on you every day.”

“Really?” You asked as everyone started to head out of the room

Another minute later, the door opened again and Ruby stepped inside, her silver eyes meeting yours with a little smile on her face.

“Hey.” You said breaking the silence in the room as Ruby came up to your bedside

“Hey.” Ruby said

“You doing alright?”

“Thanks to you. Weiss told me what happened, you really gave them a beating didn’t you?”

“They deserved it for what they did to you.”

“I didn’t really get to thank you for that,” Ruby said as she reached for your hand, “you risked your life to save mine. I told you how I wanted to be a hero to others, didn’t think I’d find someone to be mine.”

You met her hand with yours and brought it up to caress her cheek as she leaned into your touch.

“I don’t want to sound pushy,” she continued, “but could I see your Semblance? Weiss and Yang told me about it and I kind of want to see it too.”

“I can try, no promises though.” You replied as she nodded

Closing your eyes, you could feel that you still hadn’t fully recovered but you could manifest a small portion of your Semblance as you looked at Ruby with your yellow eyes.

“Wow…” she said as she leaned in closer to you

“Could say the same about you.” You said as your eyes returned to normal and you quickly moved in to kiss Ruby on the cheek

A blush quickly grew on Ruby’s cheeks, but instead of looking away like you used to do the two of you leaned in closer and her soft lips met yours as you softly ran your fingers through each other’s hair. When you let go, the biggest smile was on Ruby’s face as you leaned back into bed.

“I love you, Ruby.”

“I love you too (y/n).” She said as you slowly drifted to sleep, faintly hearing Ruby step out of the room and closing the door to let you rest

Another week of rest and recovery and you were released from the infirmary and met with open arms by your team when you returned to your room.

“Good to be out of that bed?” Nick asked

“You have no idea.” You said as you turned to Daisy and Carmen “Hey, would you two mind helping me with something?”

“Is Ruby involved?” Daisy asked as she and Carmen smiled

“It’s for Ruby, yes. Will you help?”

The two nodded and you started explaining what you wanted to do.

A few hours later, you had reached Ruby’s dorm and knocked on the door. The door opened and Yang stood in front of you and wrapped her arms around you.

“Hey (y/n)! We were just about to go see if you got released yet!” She said as Weiss and Blake stepped up to see you at the doorway and waved at you from behind her

“Good to see you guys too.” You said as Yang let you out of her death grip and soon Ruby squeezed her way past her older sister and hugged you too

“I’m glad you’re up and about.” She said

“Thanks.” You replied as you quickly kissed Ruby on the cheek

“Awww, so cute!” Weiss said

“So, any plans now that you’re out of the infirmary?” Blake asked

“Actually, I wanted to know if you were doing anything Ruby.”

“Nope, I’m free. What did you want to do?”

“First, you need to put this on,” you said as you handed Ruby a blindfold, which she put on albeit slowly “and next…”

Ruby stood there, blindfold on as she felt you sweep her off her feet and carry her bridal-style, letting out a small squeak from the shock of your swift movements.

“…just hold on tight.” You said as you turned around and headed for the elevator

As they watched you carry off their leader to enjoy the afternoon together, Yang closed the door and sat on her bed as Weiss went back to her studying and Blake returned to her book.

“They really are too cute together.” Weiss said, receiving nods of agreement and sharing a laugh with her teammates.

After a few minutes of being carried, Ruby felt you put her down on something soft like a blanket and heard you sit down next to her.

“Okay, you can take off the blindfold.” You said as Ruby fiddled with the knot behind her head

As her eyes adjusted to the sunlight, Ruby found herself sitting on a hill in the school’s gardens with you. You had set up a picnic for the two of you under a tree with a gorgeous view of the sunset.

“(Y/N)! You did this for me?”

“I figured after what’s happened lately, a change of pace would be nice.” You said as you pulled out a picnic basket with some chocolate chip cookies and a carafe of milk in a refrigerated compartment

“Okay, now I know you didn’t do this all by yourself.” Ruby giggled, “Your teammates helped you didn’t they?”

“Caught me red-handed.” You said as you handed her a few cookies and poured her a glass of milk, “The cookies are Carmen’s mother’s recipe; she and Daisy helped me bake them.”

“Well, it’s the thought that counts.” She said as she leaned against your shoulder and took a bite of the cookie

As the sun sank below the horizon, the two of you sat and ate, enjoying each other’s company as darkness swept over Beacon. With the stars starting to come out you looked down at Ruby, her silver eyes twinkling in the moonlight as your lips met in a kiss once more.

“Love you.” You said when you let go

“Love you too.” She replied
Requested by :iconandrex231:, here's my Male Reader Insert featuring RWBY's Ruby Rose.Ruby Rose Firing Crescent Rose Emoticon GIF (Rqst)
Figured I'd ride the RWBY hype train with Volume 3, Chapter 12 being released (Please refrain from putting spoilers in the comments). Plus it's Valentines Day, I couldn't help myself ;P

I had so much fun writing this, and I'm very proud of how it turned out, especially a lot of the little touches like your teammates.  I'll be fleshing out their characters in my other Readers, and I like the overall balance of it.  Carmen and Daisy representing not only the Huntresses but the Faunus and you representing the humans with...me!

The first of many shout-outs to :iconneo-chan7: who included herself as a character in her most recent RWBY Male Reader, and I knew I just had to squeeze myself into the story somehow.

Also some shout-outs to :iconyellowninja123: and :iconthespideradventurer: for acting as inspiration with their Ruby X Male Readers.

Here's to more to come!

Hope you all enjoy!
As always comments and fave are welcome and appreciated!

Do you think that you could make a Carmen or Daisy x make reader at some point?
